Suzanne Wakefield Sworn In as Assistant Chief Deputy of Accounting

RUTHERFORD COUNTY, Tenn. — Suzanne Wakefield was sworn in Monday, September 21, as Assistant Chief Deputy of Accounting for the Rutherford County Trustee’s Office.

Rutherford County Mayor Randy Allen administered the oath of office, marking the first swearing-in conducted by Allen since taking office September 1. Rutherford County Trustee Teb Batey joined Wakefield for the ceremony.

Wakefield brings more than a decade of accounting experience to the Trustee’s Office, including experience as a senior accountant. She holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Middle Tennessee State University.

In her new position, Wakefield will assist with the Trustee’s Office’s accounting and bookkeeping operations, including banking and online tax payments. Like other members of the office, she will also work directly with Rutherford County taxpayers.

The Rutherford County Trustee’s Office handles more than $1 billion in public funds annually, making strong accounting and financial operations an important part of the office’s responsibility to taxpayers.

“We’re excited to welcome Suzanne to our team, and we believe that her accounting and customer service skills will be of great value as we continue to serve Rutherford County,” Batey said.

Wakefield said joining the Trustee’s Office gives her an opportunity she has long wanted: serving the community where she lives.

“I have always wanted to serve the community that I live in, and I feel like this is a perfect place to do that,” Wakefield said. “The people that I will get to meet that live right here, it will be a great experience.”
